A great grill has the perfect combination of features, utility, durability, and a sleek look ready to cook a feast for the most spectacular of company. Broil King makes a valiant attempt to provide all of that in the Baron 590. It features a nice primarily black look with stainless steel sides that fold away for easy storage.
This grill has five stainless steel Dual-Tube burners kicking out up to 55,000 BTU’s for serious grilling power. They do not stop there though as it also includes a side burner with considerable power as well as a rear rotisserie burner and rotisserie kit for preparing a nice roast. This grill is complete with the Flav-R-Wave technology that Broil King is known for along with Linear Flow valves for a superb level of precision temperature control. All of this comes together beautifully with a value price around $700 dollars. For the customer who does not need a full stainless steel build and just wants a strong reliable grill the Baron is worth a look.

Main Characteristics

This is a grill that is made to perform the basics at a high level so that starts with multiple burners that pump out considerable power. This grill has five stainless steal burner reaching up to 55,000 BTU’s right up there with the premium grills. However with all that power the space is a bit lacking with a main area that measures only 400 square inches.

The extra burners do smooth over this rough patch a bit as there is a 10,000 BTU side burner along with a 15,000 BTU rear rotisserie burner to kick up the total cooking area to 805 inches. The main burners sit under a heavy duty cast iron cooking grate that is reversible for some extra flavor utility, One side is pointed for steakhouse style sear marks while the other side is grooved to capture the extra juices to enhance your meals flavor.

The grill setup sits over double cabinet style doors that open up to reveal shelving for storing any extra grill tools, condiments, spices, or whatever else your heart desires. With a strong durable hood the Baron 590 is a grill that brings you a decent cooking area along with extra features that are built towards ensuring the users food brings a premium taste without paying the premium price.

Cons

  • While you do have five burners the total grilling area is only 840 square inches with only 400 square inches for the main area the meal size is a bit limited.
  • Stainless steel only shows up for the burners and the sides, while black doesn’t show dirt as well it’s also a bit more difficult to clean.

Design

Outside of the sides, the control panel and various places with silver detail this grills design is all black with a shiny gloss that looks great even against the primarily stainless steel competition. The shape resembles a giant tool box right down to the double doors that open to reveal a spacious cabinet. You can not have a good grill without a good base though an this one brings the mobility of four wheels complete with locking mechanisms for extra stability though they are of the plastic variety as opposed to the caster wheels found on high end models.

The stainless steel side arms fold down for easy storage locking in to either position with speed and stability. The highlight of this grills design other than the layered approach Broil King brings to their grills is the black color scheme that brings a unique look to a grill with stainless steel parts.

Broil King Baron 590Broil King is no slouch when it come to packing their grills with multiple special features. Starting with their standard Flav-R-Wave design that vaporizes the juices to feed them right back into your cooking doing wonders for your meals taste as well as making clean up less of an issue. The Dual Tube burners use a tube inside a tube design to give you two layers of heating that combing to give your great heat retention and temperature control across the entire grilling surface.

Linear Flow valves work hand in hand with the 180 degree Sensi-Touch controls to give you superb heat control whether your want to sear, roast, or slow cook its at the tip of your fingers. There is nothing here that is truly unique revolutionizing grilling, but there is a nice package of valuable extra features.

Warranty

The cook box has a limited lifetime warranty that covers the lid, control panel, and housing. The stainless steel Dual-Tube burners and the rear rotisserie burner are warrantied for ten years against all defects in material or workmanship. The stainless steel Flav-R-Wave cooking system, cast iron cooking grates, and stainless steel cart components are warranted for five years. While all remaining parts and paint are warranted for two years. The basics are covered well for a bit of extra value on this grill.
