When it comes to grills at the lower end of pricing, you want as much grill space as you can get using high-quality materials and maybe some versatility threw in as well. This grill by Dyna-Glo manages to deliver on some of these aspects but fall behind the competition on others. We have four stainless steel burners that put out considerable firepower along with a side burner that is equally strong on the good side.
Then you have the grates that use enameled cast iron along with an enameled steel warming rack that leaves a bit to be desired against the porcelain enameled or full stainless steel grates when it comes to cleanability and durability. Still, for a portable grill on a cabinet design that costs around $350 Dyna-Glo delivers a pretty nice package. The grill uses stainless steel and black for a decent design for a budget priced grill. It does not quite have all the features of the major brands but should perform adequately for the average griller with its powerful burners.
Main Characteristics
People have differing opinions on what is important in a grill, but not many will balk at the size of this grills surface. This grill gives you four stainless steel burners, so you get the quality of stainless steel as well as the easy cleanability. Then you have another side burner on this grill left side shelf which is equally as powerful as the main burner. Each burner puts out 12,000 BTU’s for a grill that trounces the maximum output of most grills in its price range.
Dyna-Glo takes advantage of being a lesser known brand to give you a massive 667 square inch cooking surface at an affordable price. Throwing twenty burgers on this grill should hardly be an issue. The downside here come with the enameled cast iron grates and the enameled steel warming rack. The problem isn’t necessarily the quality of the material as much as a lack of porcelain coating which will add some time to your cleaning efforts as well as make it a bit harder to work with whatever you are trying to grill when it tries to hang on to your surface. This grill brings you great value for the price with its 60,000 BTU’s, but it is nothing special when you compare it to some of the major brands outside of the nice price. In any case, be sure to check a couple more grills before making a choice. For example, Weber 46810001 Spirit E330 and Broil King Monarch 390. The same price category, but there are minor differences.
Pro’s
- Five total burners and a 667 square inch surface area give you a missive grilling space for a low budget grill
- Each burner has a power of 12,000 BTU’s putting them a nice bit above the average for a grill under a thousand much less five hundred
- Well designed nice looking grill for its price range
Con’s
- Even though it has so many burners the lack of a rear rotisserie, searing, or really any type of rear burner is an area where they misfire
- Not too many special features to validate your purchase over other grills in the price range
- Dyna-Glo takes a few liberties with the grilling materials so while this model brings quantity, quality is a bit of an issue.
Design
Here we have one of the highlights of this grill because you will not find many grills that look better in this range. Dyna-Glo uses black to outline their stainless steel along with some chrome thrown in on the control panel to give you a grill that looks like it could cost close to a grand for much less.
It has a double doored cabinet design that opens up to reveal some useful storage space with shelving for any condiments, spices, or refreshments you need on hand. Under the cabinet, we have four heavy duty caster wheels with locking mechanisms so you can maintain some stability with the nice bit of mobility this grill provides. Nothing that is going to revolutionize the market, but you will not find many grills in the $300 range with this type of mix of looks and power.
Special Features
While this model isn’t especially loaded with the feature, it brings a nice bit of variety to spice up your cooking experience. The lid isn’t just stainless steel. It is also double layered for a bonus in heat retention as well as allowing you to make excellent smoked meals. Like any good propane grill we have an electronic ignition system for easy one touch start up this one just happens to be chrome plated along with the rest of the control valves.
The built in stainless steel thermometer allows for accurate temperature readings from inside of the grill. Then we have the porcelain enameled steel heat tents that not only protect your burners but work like Flavorizer bars in other grills to vaporize the juices from your meal and feed them right back into your cooking for a nice little flavor boost. Who says you can’t find a variety of quality features at a great price?
Warranty
The often disappointing aspect of buying off brand grills is their warranties do not often match up with the brands at the top of the market. That is somewhat the case here though most user should be able to cope. We have a five-year warranty on the most important part the stainless steel burners. We have a quick drop off from there though as the grates along with the lid and the rest of the grill only have a one year warranty. Giving the warranty grade anything more than adequate is a tough proposition.
